3 Best Basketball Events To Watch This Week
The month of March is made for basketball. This week, the main focus is still on college basketball as we move into the Sweet 16 round of March Madness while the NBA teams push towards the playoffs.
NCAA Tournament South Regional Semifinal:
Dayton Flyers vs. Stanford Cardinal (Thursday)
The Dayton Flyers and the Stanford Cardinal will put a low seed in the Elite Eight, and possibly the Final Four. Dayton is a number 11 seed and Stanford is a number 10 seed. The Flyers and Cardinal have not been the beneficiaries of lucky breaks in this tournament. They didn’t beat small schools. They’ve beaten the big schools. Dayton defeated Ohio State and Syracuse to get to this point, and Stanford defeated New Mexico and Kansas. These might have been unexpected results, but they’re the products of a lot of hard work. Dayton and Stanford defended the paint well in their pairs of NCAA wins. They needed their opponents to shoot poorly from the perimeter, but they grabbed enough rebounds and altered enough shots near the basket to win games. Bet it Now
NCAA Tournament South Regional Semifinal
UCLA Bruins vs. Florida Gators (Thursday)
The Florida Gators defeated the UCLA Bruins in the 2006 national championship game. They defeated UCLA again in the 2007 Final Four, winning in the semifinal round. Now, the two teams meet in the Sweet 16, for the right to be the higher seed and the favored team in the Elite Eight part of the NCAA tournament. Florida has won 28 games in a row and is looking like the team to beat, but UCLA has won five straight games and has looked very strong the past two weeks. The Bruins were not threatened at all in their second round and third round NCAA tournament wins over Tulsa and Stephen F. Austin. Florida needs to contain UCLA’s leading scorer, Jordan Adams. If it doesn’t, the Gators’ hopes of finally making the Final Four for the first time since 2007 could be ruined. Bet it Now
NBA: Los Angeles Clippers @ Dallas Mavericks (Thursday)
The Clippers are trying to hold onto the third playoff spot in the Western Conference at the very least. They have an outside chance at catching the Oklahoma City Thunder for second place, but their most realistic goal is third place. The Dallas Mavericks are now in eighth place in the West. They want to get a little more breathing room as they attempt to nail down a postseason spot. There’s a lot at stake for both teams here. Late-season weariness might be a factor, but you should see a lot of effort in this game. Check out Wagerweb Sportsbook
